London is host to a number of festivals and celebrations that attract visitors and residents alike. During the summer months, there are always opportunities to see live music, eat a variety of cuisines, shop or just pull up a lawn chair at one of London's parks for a festival weekend.

1. London Fringe Festival The London Fringe Festival is a 10-day festival celebrating independent art, film and theatre in London. The festival premiered in London in 2000 and promotes shows and art in various venues across the city.

2. Sunfest Sunfest is an annual world music festival that has been taking over Victoria Park with music and culture for more than 17 years. It is the second largest cultural music festival in Canada after Toronto's Caribana. The event features more than 30 music, dance and jazz ensembles from across Canada.

3. Bluesfest Bluesfest originally started in Windsor, Ont. in 1995, but has since grown to other cities, including London as Canada's premiere festival for Blues music and entertainment.

4. Ribfest London's Ribfest is the second largest Ribfest in North America. More than 120,000 people visit Victoria Park over the 5-day event to sample a variety of ribs and food, as well as to see cooking demonstrations, live bands and amusement rides.

5. Pawlooza Pawlooza takes place on International Homeless Animals Day and is a festival for dog and dog-lovers. Dogs will enjoy going swimming, dock diving, agility exercises, obedience training and much more. "Parents" can shop from more than 150 vendors, enjoy free samples and get tips and tricks for their pet.

6. Festa Italiana Festa Italiana is a "taste of Italy" at London's downtown Covent Garden Market. Enjoy cooking demonstrations, Italian food, opera singers, fashion shows and live music all in support of the Italian Senior's Project in London.

7. Home County Folk Festival The Home County Folk Festival, in its 38th year, features 25 of the best traditional, indie and pop folk acts from across Canada. Pull up a patio chair and enjoy traditional folk sounds, such as blues, bluegrass, Celtic and country.

8. International Food Festival The International Food Festival has been held annually since 2008 and has grown to include more international food vendors each year. Enjoy food choices from around the world, as well as a beer garden, live entertainment and family activities.

9. Rock the Park Classic rock legends and new rock bands take over Harris Park in London for three days each year for Rock the Park. This year's lineup includes Poison, Meatloaf, Our Lady Peace and Sloan. All proceeds go towards the Bethany Hope Foundation.

10. OPA Greek Festival The annual OPA Greek Festival is a chance for the Greek community of London to show off their culture with authentic Greek food, dancing, music and entertainment. The festival takes place at the Hellenic Centre of London, a New Byzantine Architecture style Church.

11. Pride London Pride London is an annual festival that celebrates the LGBT2 community. The celebrations include a parade through the downtown core, art shows, film screenings and nighttime entertainment events.

12. Victoria Park Fallfest A new festival will be debuting in London this fall. The Victoria Park Fallfest will have a "county fair" feeling and will include pie judging, potato sack racing, wood-working demonstrations and carnival rides.
