It was a great day to be a dog at the Stronach Community Recreation Centre in London on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 4), as approximately 225 dogs took the once-a-year opportunity to have a dip in the pool at the annual Pooch Plunge.
Organized by the London Dog Owners Association, with the co-operation of the City of London and assistance from a number of sponsors, the event is now in its fifth year.
Pooch Plunge organizer Lee Ann McCormick summed up the day nicely: “This event is just great.”
In addition to raising funds to support CanFix (Ontario Canine Spay and Neuter Task Force), McCormick notes the Stronach pool is excellent for an event because it offers something for all dogs.
“Ones that like to swim (use) the deep end, ones that just like just to splash around have the splash pad. And … it is like an off leash dog park where they can play on the grass and don’t even have to get wet.”
