Recognizing the importance of giving back to a community that has supported them over the years and in a time of need, members of the Karamountzos family representing the Obsidian Group Ltd, gathered at the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) facilities on Monday afternoon (Nov. 21).
They were there to announce a donation of $250,000 to the London Heath Sciences Foundation (LHSF) in support of the Access Cancer Therapies Now Fund. The fund has been established to help cover costs of novel treatments for cancer — one’s not always funded by provincial or private drug plans — at London Health Sciences Centre’ LRCP.
In recognition of the donation by the Obsidian Group Ltd, which includes Crabby Joe’s, Coffee Culture Café’ & Eatery and Union Burger, Karamountzos family members join with LHSF Vice-Chair Jim Cassidy, LCRP Vice-President Brian Orr and LRCP oncologist Dr. Kylea Potvin beside a plaque erected at the facility marking the occasion.
