Painting the town red for Congenital Heart Defect Awareness

Our London

London councillors joined with Mayor Joe Fontana and members of the Canadian Congenital Heart Alliance (CCHA) along with their friends and families as City Hall was turned red on Wednesday evening (Feb. 13) to help raise awareness of congenital heart defects (CHD).

“We would like to see Feb. 14 recognized as Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day and tonight, London is turning City Call red as a show of support and to help raise awareness in our city,” said Lisa Wright, chair, Hearts of London/Middlesex, CCHA.

Noting that it is the number one birth defect in the country and that 180,000 Canadians live with CHD’s, Wright said this is the perfect day to mark the occasion.

“It is Heart Month and what better day than Feb. 14, the day of hearts, to celebrate our children and adults that have special hearts — hearts with CHD’s.”
