Healthy living is the name of the game for any star athlete and on Wednesday (Nov. 20), London Knights Anthony Stolarz and Dakota Mermis brought that message St. Anne Catholic Elementary School.
The duo was there taking part in a presentation made by the Goodlife Kids Foundation (GLKF), celebrating the school’s participation a program called Nutrition Ignition! It is a school-based program facilitated by researchers and students from Brescia University College and Western University, that uses fun, interactive lessons and games to educate students and their families about healthy eating and physical activities.
Made possible by a grant of $125,435 from GLKF through the Children’s Health Foundation, St Anne is now the second area school to take part in the program, the other being St. Robert Catholic Elementary School.
Lead by principal investigator Dr. Danielle Battram at Brescia and Drs. Alan Salmoni and Laura Misener at Western, it is hoped that through the Nutrition Ignition! program, both students and their families will become healthier by the combination of regular physical activity and a commitment to healthier eating.
