The Walmart Walk for Miracles has the numbers to back why it's been around for 11 years.
On Sunday (June 8) about 1,000 people came out for the event at Springbank Park.
The final tallies weren’t done, but the 2014 edition of Walk for Miracles raised more than $430,000 for the Children’s Health Foundation (CHF).
This is Walmart Canada’s 20th anniversary and over that time the company has given more than $5.5 million to CHF and $85 million nationally to the Children’s Miracle Network, which provides additional funding to ensure that vital programs, equipment and research devoted to children's health continues to thrive.
The London fundraiser was just one of 12 Walk for Miracles going on across the country.
As much of a good cause the walk is, it wasn’t exactly easy for participants to get out of the starting gates with things like face painting and bouncy castles also part of the day.
Every year the walk anoints a new grand marshal and taking over the duties this time was six-year-old Elijah Khan.
