About 60 people took a few hours to reach for the clouds in Victoria Park Saturday (Aug. 16).
They were part of the second annual Yogathon Canada, held to raise funds for Care for Children helping teach kids in rural India and to promote the benefits of regular yoga exercise according to one of the instructors who led the stretching marathon, Anna Chigogidz.
“(The goal) is to give people the experience of yoga, taking a challenge that seems difficult but in a group setting you see that you’re able to do it,” she said.
The grey skies weren’t a deterrent for the dozens who showed up to work out at the band shell. In fact Chigogidz said it made for a more comfortable Yogathon than last year’s, held under a blistering sun.
“I’m very happy to have the clouds because last year it was blistering hot so I think it’s much easier for people to have less sun.”
