Damp Pawlooza goes to the dogs

Our London

Bruno’s obsession with fashion was borne of tragedy.

The 30-month-old Boxer needed his chic goldenrod Doggles to protect his eyes on car rides. His master Amy explained she wasn’t about to spend another $1,000 on surgery standing on the grounds of the Plunkett Estate for Pawlooza 2014 Saturday (Aug. 16).

“He had just had surgery on it the day before last Pawlooza so he had to wear a cone,” she said. “So we tried these and they worked. He’s been getting stopped for pictures all day.”

Bruno was one of thousands of dogs who were the stars of the show at the carnival for canines, an annual fundraiser for ARF Ontario, which helps First Nations and rural towns rescue strays and LEADS Employment Services.

It takes the work of about 300 volunteers to stage the festival of everything four-legged, from dock diving, Frisbee catching and other challenges to a midway of dog-centered vendors.
