London Mixed Media Artist Pollyanna McClinton's latest art show includes pieces that are inspired by everyday encounters. Since her last solo show at the Masonville Public Library in 2012, Pollyanna has expanded her exploration of cold wax and oils. Layering texture, pattern, and shapes, then carving as a final step. These pieces do show the years Pollyanna spent as a printmaker at OCAD. Carving into the surface using the same tools as relief printers, the underlying colours are exposed.
The recent works also include mixed media collages using her own handmade paper, found papers, and sewing. There is a variety of handmade paper made from jute, hay, kozo, cotton, gampi, and corn stalks/leaves. The intaglio pieces include an overlay of mixed media collage.
