Over the next two weeks, a number of London homes and businesses may experience discoloured water coming from their taps due to city maintenance of a main water trunk line.
The maintenance activities have the potential to dislodge particles of rust from the interior surfaces of older cast-iron water mains, resulting in discoloured water in the downtown area, in Old North, and in the area around the Carling Heights Arena.
While the water is different in colour, it is perfectly safe to drink, cook, or clean with.
Most of the discolouration is expected to be cleared within 24 hours, however customers within this boundary area may experience recurring colour changes in their water or fluctuating pressure as work continues on the trunk line until Nov. 20.
Anyone experiencing water pressure problems or discolouration after this time period should call 519-661-4739.
