The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) is going to great lengths to clear up possible misinformation about its food allergy policy.
“Reports by some London news outlets have erroneously suggested that the Thames Valley District School Board may have banned “meat, eggs and fish” from schools based on religious beliefs,” stated a news release issued by the school board. “There (sic) is incorrect. There has been no change to board policy about foods students may bring to school.”
The confusion started after a letter about food allergies was sent home Wednesday by a classroom teacher who mistakenly included food choices based on a student's religious preferences.
“Parents and the media received a letter Thursday acknowledging the mistake, along with an apology from the principal,” states the TVDSB news release. “Despite the clarification from the board, some news outlets continued today to report erroneous information.”
