Police have released the video of London Mayor Joe Fontana’s initial police interview after his Nov. 21, 2012 arrest.
The three-hour video depicts RCMP Const. Shawn Devine, disguised in post-production by police, interviewing Fontana about the charges laid against him hours earlier: fraud under $5,000, utter forged document and breach of trust by a public official.
Fontana’s trial took place over four days May 26-May 29. After closing arguments Thursday (May 29) Ontario Superior Court Justice Bruce Thomas said he would need an extra week to render a decision.
He had anticipated delivering a verdict June 6 but pushed it back a week and is set to reveal Fontana’s fate on a decidedly more ominous (if you are superstitious) date, the following Friday (June 13).
