A London man was charged after allegedly rear-ending a police cruiser Sunday (July 13).
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Queens Avenue and Colbourne Street at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday where according to London Police Service spokesperson Const. Ken Steeves a cruiser being driven by a 14-year veteran officer was struck from behind.
Both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle were brought to hospital, treated for minor injuries and discharged.
Called to assist in the investigation, one of the service’s three specially trained drug recognition expert (DRE) officers determined the driver was impaired.
As a result Frank Kutyma, 56 of London was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug causing bodily harm.
The charge hasn’t been proven in court. Kutyma was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in London court Aug. 7.
