A London-area man who went missing after a barn fire in 1977 has been found alive and well.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police Ronald Stan was reported missing after a fire in Middlesex Centre and declared dead by the courts in 1986. But after officers re-examined the case during a routine review, they discovered through investigation that Stan was living in Oklahoma under the name Jeff Walton, now 69 years old.
An OPP spokesperson said there is no basis in the Criminal Code to charge Stan with a crime. She said she couldn’t speak on behalf of authorities in the United States.
“The affected families and American authorities have been notified of the results of the investigation,” Const. Laurie Houghton wrote in an email. “The investigation into the disappearance of the missing male is now closed.”
