Domestic violence and bullying awareness have been in the spotlight this month, so the Canadian Latin American Association of London (CALA) is hosting an event designed to continue the conversation.
In collaboration with community partners, CALA will host the Stop Bullying! Forum on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Goodwill Industries (255 Horton St.), from 1-4 p.m.
The Stop Bullying! Forum will feature a community expert panel aimed to promote awareness of bullying and its cultural impact on children and families.
Presenters will include Western University’s Dr. Lynne Zarbatany and London Police Service’s Theresa Allot and representatives from the London Anti-Bullying Coalition.
“Historically, bullying was treated as a normal childhood behaviour across the world,” said Zarbatany. “We are now aware of the profound mental health consequences experienced by those who are chronically victimized and must become more proactive against this social problem that goes beyond cultures and nationalities.”
The forum will also feature informational booths from various community resources, cultural entertainment and children activities.
English and Spanish interpretation will also be provided. Admission and parking is free.
To register, call 226-700-1405, email firstname.lastname@example.org or access the following Eventbrite link http://bitly.com/1F9L9GQ.
Since its inception in 2007, CALA has been committed to supporting the inclusiveness and integration of the Latin American community and the promotion of it culture in London.
