Lockdown at five London schools

Our London

London police officers, some with guns drawn, descended upon B. Davison High School in the area of Hamilton and Trafalgar roads after receiving a tip that a student was planning on going to that school, or one of four others, with a gun.

Const. Ken Steeves said police rushed to the scene at about 9:16 a.m. and closed down not just that school, but also others in the area, as well.

“There was information that a student had brought a gun to school, so we placed B. Davison school on lockdown, as well as Lester B. Pearson next door, Aberdeen Public School, Ealing Public School and Trafalgar Public School,” he said.

“They’re close geographically and it was unknown where he was at the time,” Steeves said, adding the teen suspect, who cannot be named, had friends throughout the area. “He may have attended any one of those schools, so before we knew where he was we had to take the proper safety precautions for everybody.”

Police also closed roads in the area and told nearby residents to stay inside.

Less than an hour after it began, police found a cap gun and arrested a teenage boy.

The area has since re-opened to traffic and residents.
