A suspect has been arrested by London police after multiple people reported being assaulted by a man riding a bicycle between Dec. 8 - 15 in the area bound roughly by St. George Street, Oxford Street, William Street and Central Avenue.
In each case, a pedestrian sustained minor injuries after being struck in the back with a sharp object carried by a man riding past them on a bicycle.
In the most recent case, a male victim gave chase and confronted the suspect briefly before reporting the incident. Through further investigation, which included reviewing surveillance video in the area, police were able to identify and locate the suspect, who was taken into custody at about 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 15. He was charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and remains in custody. He was scheduled to appear in court today.
The victims included two men and one woman between the ages of 25 and 71, who, it’s believed, were targeted at random.
Police are not excluding the possibility of there being other unreported incidents. Anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a similar incident is asked to contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670.
