After close to 10 months on the run, London police have arrested William Dwayne McDonald, the man wanted in connection to a shooting in the city’s downtown core last year.
Investigators laid a number of charges against two men following the incident, McDonald, and Samater Ali, including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.
Though police were eventually able to track down Ali, McDonald’s whereabouts remained unknown until Feb. 15, when he was found and arrested with the help of the Ontario Provincial Police Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad.
Now, McDonald is facing additional charges, including one count of second degree murder, in connection to the Dec. 28, 2016 death of Emmanuel Awai, 26, of London, who was found unresponsive at a residence on Connaught Avenue. An autopsy later revealed Awai had died from a gunshot wound.
McDonald is now set to appear in court to answer to the charges.
