Tooth loss can occur from a variety of reasons, including injury, age and extraction.  But dealing with tooth loss is not just for cosmetic reasons.  After you lose a tooth, chewing and eating can destabilize your bit and cause you discomfort.  In addition to that, once you are missing even one tooth, your mouth can shift and cause your face to look older.  The shifting can also cause other teeth to move into the space created by the missing tooth.

If you are missing one or more teeth, you have several options available to you.  A bridge can be used to place a false tooth/teeth into the space or you can opt for a partial denture.

But the option that is gaining popularity among patients who have lost teeth is implants.  One of the biggest advantages of implants is that if they are properly maintained, they can last a lifetime!

An implant is made up of two parts.  The lower part of the implant is made of titanium and acts as the 'root' of the tooth.  This part will be securely placed into your jawbone, ensuring that it is stable and doesn't move around.  The top part of the implant is made of porcelain and looks just like a natural tooth.

If you have significant tooth loss, implants can be placed strategically to help secure your dentures, making is easier to chew and talk.

Implants are available at Southwood Dental Studio.  Dr. Sanjay Agrawal will meet with you and examine your mouth before talking to you about the different options available to you.  Once you feel comfortable with your decision, Dr. Agrawal and his team will help you have a more natural looking smile.

Southwood Dental Studio is located at 3010 Colonel Talbot Rd., Unit 3 in London.  For more information, call (519) 652-7077 or visit
