Byron Optimist tournament begins

Our London

By John Matisz/London Community News The puck was dropped this morning (Dec. 28) to begin the Byron Optimist House League Tournament at the Earl Nichols Recreation Centre. The annual holiday event boats a total of 36 teams spanned over six divisions and four age groups, from Atom to Midget. And while only eight teams are traveling in from out of town — one from Cooksville, one from Port Credit and six from Burlington — the non-checking tournament offers an interesting blend of local talent. Various teams from the North London Nationals, West London Hawks, London Minor Hockey Association Thunder, SSE Wild and Oakridge Aeros organizations will be representing the Forest City throughout the three-day spectacle.
