One North London Elite team will be moving on to the next round of the Ontario Cup, while their younger counterparts won’t be going anywhere after the two squads hosted a pair of tournaments on the provincial soccer schedule last weekend (June 16-17) at the North London Sports Fields.
North London’s under-13 boys’ squad absolutely dominated the five-team tournament by giving up no goals in four games. The team opened the Ontario Cup round robin with an 8-0 performance against the North Toronto Nitros, then 3-0 over the Brampton Blast, next was an 11-0 stomping of Leamington SC United and they finished with a moderate 5-0 beat down of the Kitchener Spirit.
The London Under-13 team now moves on to the Cup quarter-final against the Mississauga Falcons A team Aug. 11.
The North London Elite Under-12 boys’ squad only lost one matchup, but it was enough to keep the club from advancing to the next round.
They opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over the Flamborough Flames before playing the North York Spartacus in a scoreless game.
The under-12 team then suffered their first loss in a 4-1 stomping by the Woodbridge Strikers—the eventual winner of the tournament with no losses on the weekend.
North London Under-12 finished the tournament by squeaking by Oakville 2-1.
