London will host the 2014 National U13 Championships when it comes to Stronach Park from Aug. 21 to 25.
This is the first time since 2008 there has been a Canadian championship for the peewee age group.
As many as a dozen teams will be competing in the event, which includes a local squad in the mix.
"It's quite an honour that they selected London for the re-introduction of this championship,” said LDBA executive member Justin Snively, who chaired the bid committee and will serve as chair of the national championship, in a press release. “It shows that Baseball Canada has faith in the kind of events we are able to produce in the city and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the Forest City to the national baseball community once again."
In the past London has hosted the 2012 Baseball Canada Cup and 2010 Baseball Canada U18 (midget) Championships.
The 2014 championships will be the first time in five years Baseball Ontario and Baseball Quebec has taken part in a nationwide U13 competition.
