If Saturday night (Aug 30) was any indication, London Beefeaters fans could doing a lot of cheering from the stands this season.
Playing host to the GTA Grizzlies, London made the most their Ontario Football Conference 2014 home opener by posting a convincing 32-9 victory.
Coming into the game on the heels of a 24-14 loss in Ottawa just a week before, the Beefeaters took their time in getting things rolling.
Trailing the Grizzlies 9-8 at the half, London added five points off the top of the third before kicking the offence into high gear in the final quarter.
Taking the snap from the Grizzlies 42-yard line, Beefeaters quarterback Colin Drennan hit receiver Aaron Stora-Nelson deep down the right side who then drove the ball in across the goal-line.
Only minutes later, Josh Franks picked off a pass at the London 46, dogging it back down field to within easy striking distance of the GTA end zone. On the very next play, Dwaine Stewart rolled it over the line for another Beefeaters touchdown.
London kicker Carmine Gentile also figured on the scoreboard for London, adding a pair of field goals to the Beefeaters tally.
