The Canada Games Aquatic Centre (CGAC) was the destination of choice for athletes taking part in the FCDC Invitational diving competition Feb. 21-22.
Hosted by the Forest City Diving Club (FCDC), an estimated 60 competitors and their families, friends as well as coaches from across the province were on hand for the event.
Participants ranged in age from eight to 16 years of age, diving from both the 1- and 3-metre springboards as well as the 5-, 7.5- and 10-meter tower diving positions.
One of as many as seven similar ranked events that happen over the course of a season, this was the first time the club has hosted a provincial-level, Tier II event said FCDC president Bob Zacharias.
Based out of the CGAC, the club is a not-for-profit sports organization sanctioned by Dive Ontario and Dive Canada. FCDC offers a range of learn to dive programs from beginner to advanced levels. It also has competitive diving programs at both the provincial and national levels.
