London Music Awards

Our London

Photos by Mike Maloney/London Community News/Twitter:@mdmaloneyphoto The presentation of the 2012 London Music Awards took place at the Wolf Performance Hall on Wednesday night. Designed to recognize and help promote London's diverse but very talented music scene, awards were presented in over 25 categories of music and music related activities. The highlight of the evening though was the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award given to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and London native, the legendary Garth Hudson. A member of The Band, Hudson has played with a long and distinguished list of diverse musicians over the years from Ronnie Hawkins and Leonard Cohen to Emmylou Harris and the Barenaked Ladies. Hudson grew up in London, attending Broughdale Public School, Medway High School and the University of Western Ontario. In addition to the awards themselves, there were also performances by Hudson and Sister Maud Hudson, Stephanie McIlroy, Cork & Kerry, Lucky Louise and Marissa Amaral.
